N&L | A Golden Hour Engagement Session At The Skagit Valley Tulip Fields

We had so much fun shooting Natalie and Lanee’s same sex engagement session at Roozengaarde, the biggest tulip field in the Skagit Valley here in Washington State! We lucked out with the beautiful golden light and had so much fun wandering the colorful rows.

The location of this engagement session was just as breathtaking as the couple themselves. Roozengaarde, located in the Skagit Valley, is known for its stunning tulip fields and beautiful gardens. The golden hour light made the fields even more magical, casting a warm and romantic glow on Natalie and Lanee as they walked hand in hand through the rows of colorful blooms. Tulips have long been a symbol of love and springtime, making them the perfect backdrop for an engagement session.

As a wedding and engagement photographer, I am honored to document love in all its forms. This session with Natalie and Lanee, a same-sex couple who are also a part of the LGBTQ community, was particularly special to Liz and I. As members of the community ourselves, we know how important it is to have representation and inclusivity in all aspects of life, including photography. We believe that love is love, and we are proud to capture the unique beauty and joy of all our couples, no matter their gender identity or sexual orientation.

This moment from the shoot was so funny, Lanee slipped in the dust while lifting up Natalie and they both went flying, Natalie had to pat the dust off of Lanee. We love these moment of genuine laughter - this is the stuff you can’t direct. We love capturing moments as they unfold.

At the end of the day, what matters most in any photo session is the love and connection between the couple. Natalie and Lanee's engagement session was filled with laughter, tenderness, and genuine affection, and I am grateful to have been able to capture those moments for them. Our goal is to create images that reflect the unique personalities and love stories of each couple we work with, and we am proud to do so for all members of the LGBTQ community!

The Skagit Valley tulip fields draw visitors from all over the world, and it's easy to see why. The fields are a testament to the beauty and resilience of nature, and the vibrant colors and fragrant blooms are truly awe-inspiring. At Roozengaarde, visitors can explore a variety of gardens and displays, including the famous tulip fields, which come alive every spring. Whether you're a local or a tourist, a visit to Roozengaarde is a must-see, and the perfect location for an engagement session.
