J&J | A Kingston House Lavender Field Wedding
Jackie & Jacob are a classically cool Pacific Northwest couple who know how to throw a great party. They chose to get married in a lavender field just a short ferry ride away from Seattle in Kingston, WA at Kingston House. They dreamt up their ideal wedding day – a non-fussy outdoor party, with refined touches that complement the provincial feeling of the lavender fields at Kingston House. Their wedding day was filled with unique personal touches, hilarious and heartwarming speeches from friends and family, and they kept the after party going into the late hours of the night (before jetting off to Paris the next morning for their honeymoon) at Jacob’s “happy place,” the casino!
The setting they chose, Kingston House, is a Mid-Century House designed by Anker Molver. The grounds feature rolling hills of grass, towering cedars, and an organic lavender farm. Kingston House is focused on sustainability and giving back to the land & community, all of which Jackie & Jacob were drawn to and knew it was the perfect setting for their wedding day.
When we arrived the excited energy was palpable in the air, as Jackie’s bridesmaids squared away the last details. Jackie wore a chic and modern gown designed by Alexandra Grecco from The Dress Theory. Jackie’s sister created all of the floral arrangements for the day, and had all of the girls help arrange them along the pièce de résistance–one long dinner table over the rolling hills in the middle of the lavender field. Spirits were high as Jacob and his groomsmen eagerly waited for the festivities to begin!
Their first look was intimate, taking place on the mid-century porch of Kingston House. They both instantly burst into happy tears, ready to begin the rest of their lives together and officially kick off their big day!
After a few formal portraits, we wandered around Kingston House’s impeccably manicured grounds and let Jackie & Jacob have a moment to soak in all of the emotion of the day!
Just one of many beautiful features of Kingston House is its lavender field which blooms in the peak summer months.
As guests arrived, they made their way down the hill to the pond at Kingston House. It is one of many sites you can have your ceremony on the grounds and the arbor makes for a stunning backdrop.
Their ceremony was emotional, melded their Korean and Jewish heritage, and filled with the memory of family members. Of course their dog Sheena stole the show for a few moments because how could she not!
They made their getaway from the ceremony on the back of a golf cart, and hid away to sign their marriage license.
For cocktail hour guests enjoyed a seafood & oyster bar, small bites, and drank endless wine from a large format bottle of rosé.
Jackie & Jacob signed their wedding license inside the grand room of Kingston House. This moment captured on 35mm film ended up being some of our favorite photos (of many!) of the day.
This seemingly endless - long communal dinner table - was the pièce de résistance of Jackie & Jacob’s wedding day. It represented the epitome of everyone throughout their life coming together to celebrate this new union, be merry, and share a meal together under the hot July sun.
As cocktail hour ended and guests made their way over to find seats, all were in awe of the sprawling dinner table and lovely floral arrangements created by Jackie’s talented sister. The lavender field of Kingston House is our favorite location for a reception dinner in the Seattle area - its beauty is truly irreplicable and unmatched.
The speeches were warm, heartfelt, and hilarious - the guest’s full belly laughs were a wonderful indicator of the night ahead.
Jackie & Jacob slipped away from guests for a few moments to soak in the sunset and reflect. As they finally had a moment alone they chatted about how the day unfolded, enjoyed the gorgeous surroundings, and then rejoined the party.
Jackie & Jacob kicked off an evening of dancing with their first dance as a married couple, followed by the hora - an homage to Jacob’s Jewish heritage.
After dancing dwindled, guests boarded a coach bus and set off for the local casino for an after party. We joined Jackie & Jacob to snap a few photos of them in their natural habitat - drinking beers, with an outfit change that felt most like them.
