E&D | A Whidbey Island Wedding at Crockett Farm

An intimate and whimsical DIY wedding at Crockett Farm on Whidbey Island.

Emily and Dylan tied the knot on a rainy May day on Whidbey Island, one of our favorite islands off the coast of Seattle, at Crockett Farm. “As you know, a knot that becomes wet is extremely hard to untie – therefore, when you “tie the knot” on a rainy day, your marriage is supposedly just as hard to unravel!”. Emily got ready at Captain Whidbey, a cozy and chic inn on the island, and Dylan got ready at the beautiful house on the Crockett Farm grounds.

Emily and Dylan had their first look at Fort Casey State Park, armed with clear umbrellas in the pouring rain, we saw deers as we wandered through the foggy meadows of clover, it was pure PNW magic. Then we headed back to Crockett Farm as the rain cleared for group portraits.

Emily and Dylan were married by Dylan’s father in an intimate ceremony overlooking the water, the rain cleared for the entire ceremony, just for them. Dylan’s brother walked Emily down the aisle.

The rain started again immediately after the ceremony, Dylan’s dad who officiated celebrated in the rain! The couple headed up into the barn and enjoyed a private cocktail hour champagne toast, while guests sipped on Aperol Spritz and Dark n Stormy’s in the covered stone patio.

The reception was in the warmth of the barn, Emily really brought her DIY vision to life, long tables with greenery garlands, crystal goblets, and charming mix matched plates.

Dinner was family style, guests helped each other fill their plates and refill their wine glasses. While champagne toasts had everyone in tears.

Dancing was lively and so much fun - Emily and Dylan shared their first dance. Dylan had his dance with his mom and Emily had her dance with Dylan’s dad. Then the dance floor was a full on party!

Not only did we shoot digital and film photos at this Whidbey Island Wedding, we also shot our first Super8 wedding film!
